Glamoured: Sebastian stands at a modest six foot one inch tall in his Glamour, his frame heavily muscled and well toned beneath lightly tanned and heavily inked flesh. He keeps a similar muscle mass in his human guise as he does in his true form, leaving the impression of an impressively built human in his wake. His hands are large and calloused, strong and nimble. He is just as capable of crushing a skull under those hands as ghosting them over a lovers body with the lightest of touches. Strong wrists give way to muscled arms and buldging shoulders. Strong, solid chest and back taper over washboard abs and down to a slim waist that is nearly five inches smaller than his chest. Strong, powerful legs hold it all up, and provide locamotion to the beast.
He keeps himself well groomed, but favors a beard over cleanly shaven face. Beneath, he has the same strong jaw as his true form, and a set of kiss me plump lips that only just peek out from beneath the deep blonde hair. His nose is strong and sharp in the greeco-roman fashion, and his brow is just this side of heavy, leaving behind a rugged, wholly masculine impression. The hair atop his skull is kept short along the sides leaving a thick mohawk, not disimilar to a mane, of long sun bleached hair across the top of his skull. One of the few hints at what lay beneath the magic.
Though the design shimmers and shifts from day to day with his moods, he keeps himself solidly inked from knuckles to shoulders, an eagle screams across his broad pectorals, wings extended. A tigers snarling face battles with a serpent across his abdominals, flanked by a pair of anchors on the sides of his ribs that read 'stay' and 'true'. His back is taken up by a single piece that typically appears as a coiled naga, a cobra with a woman's face. Several tattoos grace his legs, but these seems to change on a much more regular basis, as if he hasn't quite pinned down what he likes there yet.
Unglamoured: Just as in his Glamour, Sebastian is a large, hefty beast of power and grace. He stands at an impressive 19 hands(76 in) to the withers. His midnight black coat is short and sleek, glossy to the point that it shines and shimmers even when there is little light to reflect off of it. His tail, thick and wavy, drags on the ground behind him for nearly a foot, but streams out behind him in flight for nearly a yard. His mane is equally as thick and wavy, hanging from his heavy crest to his knees, his forelock floating nearly two feet from the bottom of his chin. Hooves as large as dinner plates and hard as diamonds hold the massive beast up, and serve as weapon when the need arises. Thick coat grows from the coronet band above the hoof, over the fetlock, and mid way up the cannon, falling about the hoof like an impenetrable curtain. His legs are strong and solid, leaving no doubts as to the power and strength they hold. His body is thick and corded with muscle, power and grace in each movement. His neck is thick and heavily arched in the stallion fashion, topped with a broad head, wide in the jaw, and a pair of short, chizzled ears.
Attached to the shoulders, just ahead of the scapula, are a massive pair of eagle like wings. These wings are feathered in the same fashion as an eagle, and when fully extended reach an impressive 40 feet from wingtip to wingtip. They are kept loosely folded against his sides when not in use, though he is capable of simply presenting as an exceptionally large horse when these wings would be problematic or draw too much attention. He finds it amusing to pretend to be a simple horse at times, and has spent more than a few decades living the simple life in that guise over the centuries.
Sebastian is the true essence of a world-wise old stallion. Above all, he is a kind and loving soul, with a penchant towards physical affection of all kinds. Now, now, those don't have to be sexual or romantic in nature, he's just a toucher. Loves to touch and be touched, even in the most subtle and platonic of ways. A knee bump here, or a brush of shoulder there. This has, on occasion, gotten him into a bit of trouble over the years. Rarely from the one being touched, as it is so natural and non threatening than most fail to even notice it after the first few meetings. Its usually a boyfriend, unamused with the mans easy way with their woman. He really doesn't understand why, he wasn't even really flirting with them, he was just having a nice conversation. Its no skin off his nose and he rarely gives the issue a second thought after the fact, considering it an issue with the other male rather than his own behavior. After all, he's been this way for his whole life, and only recently has it been an issue.
He enjoys knowledge and as such he is truly enjoying this age of free and easy sharing of knowledge. It is not uncommon to find him taking classes, or studying some new trade, just because he loves to learn. He is known for his kindness and enjoys making those around him laugh. Giving is something that comes as naturally as breathing to him, and he has been known to simply hand out his possessions to someone truly in need. He enjoys company of all kinds, and rarely finds himself alone or lonely. He has a skill for making friends and quickly earning the love and loyalty of those around him. Humans most of all intrigue him, and he enjoys spending time among them.
He is a fan of both booze and smoke, though he has never been impressed with most recreational drugs, so he rarely indulges in them. He would much rather spend a night showing a woman a good time, or even a man, if one should strike his fancy. He loves to dance, to paint, draw, or create art of any kind with his hands. He['s even been known to write the occasional story when the muse strikes him. He's an active creature by nature, and rarely is he still. Theres always a finger tapping out a beat, or a booted foot bouncing.
1293-776 AD Birth, Perseus, Mount Helicon, Bellerophon, Mount Olympus
Pegasus was born in a most peculiar manner, if the legends are to be believed. It all started with the hero Perseus, sent to kill the Gorgon Medusa and bring back her head, for her gaze was said to turn any living creature to stone. The stories tell of devious ingenuity and a grand victory, and as the blood that gushed forth from Medusa's severed neck mixed with the foam of the sea Pegasus burst forth into being. In the hopes of saving his beloved, Perseus mounted the young stallion and the pair raced the sun across the sky to save Andromeda from the great sea dragon, turning the dragon to stone by showing it Medusa's severed head. Even in death, the Gorgon's gaze was still capable of turning any living being to stone. And so, the pair saved the day and Perseus got the girl. Though this is as much a story to Pegasus as it is to any other, for he was just a newborn when it all happened. He remembers bits a pieces here and there, though they are more like a fever dream than a true memory for him.
Having heard of his bravery, Athena came and carried young Pegasus to Mount Helicon where he was entrusted to the care of the Muses. For many years Pegasus lived among the Muses, innocent and joyful as any 'childhood' should be. Bellerophon, a son of Poseidon, longed to capture Pegasus but could not fathom how one could tame such a wild and magnificent creature. A seer advised Bellerophon to sleep in the temple of Athena. There he saw the goddess before him holding a silver bridle in her hand. When he awoke he was alone but the bridle remained. He ran forth from the temple and found Pegasus drinking at the spring. Pegasus spotted the shine of the silver bridle, recognizing it as one used by Athena, and allowed Bellerophon to put the charmed bridle on the noble steed's head with little difficulty. The bridle in place, Pegasus became gentle and tame. Thus Bellerophon became master of the winged horse. Urania, the Muse of Astronomy and Universal Love showed the most interest in Pegasus' rearing. Prophesying of his future heroic deeds and eventual celestial honor she grieved the most when Bellerophon came to take Pegasus away from Mt. Helicon.
Pegasus became the horse of Bellerophon, and they had many adventures together, including the slaying of the Chimera. Horse and rider seemed a perfect match, and the two were a familiar sight in the sky. Many exciting and successful adventures took place, but unfortunately for Bellerophon, he was determined to be a god himself. One day he leaped onto Pegasus and dug in his stirrups. "To Olympus!" he cried, and urged the horse upward to the home of the gods. Pegasus was wiser, and for the first time would not obey. He threw his rider to the ground and flew way. Bellerophon, whose ambition had grown too great, wandered on foot for the rest of his days.
After the many long years of heroic deeds Pegasus had accomplished in the companionship of Bellerophon, Urania was enraptured by Pegasus' triumphant arrival to Mt. Olympus. Contrary to the unfortunate fate of Bellerophon, Pegasus was permitted to spend his days in Mount Olympus in the presence of the gods. He was entrusted with bringing lightening and thunderbolts to Zeus, the most powerful of all gods. It is said that Pegasus' own hooves could be heard thundering across the skies in a storm. For many years Pegasus remained on Mt. Olympus, even as the Gods fell into decline in the mortal world. But after a time, he became restless with his sedentary lifestyle and began to watch the mortal world below.
He became enthralled with the mortal humans and their ways, and finally he was tempted from Mt. Olympus by the first gathering of the Olympic games. He flew down to earth and cloaked himself in a mortal skin, as he had seen Zeus do so many time before, so that he might walk among the humans and watch the games from their point of view. Little did he know that this would mean the end to his time among the gods, and when he attempted to return to Mt. Olympus, he could not find his way back.
776-371 AD Sparta, the Joys of War
Pegasus was forced to take a mortal identity and wandered for a time before he found himself in Sparta, home of a warrior society. He was welcomed with open arms and spent several hundred years among the brave and valiant warriors. Every half century or so he would 'die' in battle and return in his equine guise for a decade or two, before changing his appearance and returning to a human existence. It was both a peaceful and relaxing time and an exhilarating time in his life. He came to greatly enjoy the thrill of battle, though he never came to lust for the kill as many men did. Death was simply an inevitable part of human existence, and it was no fault of his that those humans chose to go to battle. He did do his best to avoid the killing of those who were innocent, children and women who posed no threat to him or his men. He remained within the Spartan society until their defeat in the Battle of Leuctra, a defeat so great that it signaled the inevitable decline and death of the warrior culture over the next century.
346-323 AD Twenty Years, A Boy and His Stallion
Pegasus remained in Sparta for another twenty years, but the steady decline and slow death of the culture he had come to love was too painful for him to take, and he began to wander north. Taking on his mundane equine form, he set out in search of adventures to distract him from his heartache. What he found was a ten year old boy in an interesting position. He felt the potential in this boy, radiating like the heat from a kiln, potential for greatness and grand adventure. But he also found a companion who would treat him well, as the magnificent beast he was, and so he allowed the boy, and only the boy, to ride him. The boy called him Bucephalas and was none the wiser that his stallion was anything but .
Six years later saw the pair campaigning with the army in northern thrace. Even at so young an age, the boy proved to be a brilliant tactician and commander, instilling loyalty and admiration with his men and later with those people he conquered. He was skilled with both sword and tongue and was often heard making grand speeches to rally his men's courage. The subsequent fifteen years saw the pair -along with a truly massive army of forty thousand men and horses- methodically working their way across Asian Minor, Egypt, Persia, and Bactria. From the Mediterranean to India, from the Black Sea to the Arabian Sea. Their adventures were ended prematurely by the boy’s death, likely a poisoning. After this, Pegasus slowly made his way back to Greece in his human guise. But by the time he got home it was far from what he remembered, what he loved. The great kingdom the boy had built crumbled and broke into pieces around him. It was too painful to remain there, so he traveled to an up and coming city in Italy called Rome.
320 BC-477 AD Rome and the Empire
He settled in Rome for many years, witnessing first-hand many of the things history books speak of, and not always correctly. At times he traveled with the expansion of the Roman Empire, sometimes he was a soldier others a scholar. He witnessed the construction of the great Colosseum, of Hadrians wall in Britain. He watched hundreds die as a cold front rolled across the world and settled for nearly a century and a half. Watched Thousands die as the Antonine Plague swept across the Empire. He was living in the city when Rome was sacked, and the subsequent collapse of the Roman Empire. While it was easily as busy a time as the years he spent as a warrior in Sparta, it was also one of his least favorites simply because it wasn't interesting to him in comparison to some of his other lives. He stayed within the Roman Empire even as it crumbled, even as Romulus Augustus fell to the Goths. But the chaos that followed the Fall was not what he craved, and it wasn't long before he packed his bags and hit the road once more
480-1000 AD The Foundation of France
After Rome fell, he finally moved along once more, drifting all across Europe as the Dark Ages settled over the lands. After many years he finally settled in what would become France, helping to cultivate the land alongside the Franks and establish a human life. He made a place for himself at the king’s side, having learned enough to lay in plans for his 'successor' with each new human glamour. He fought behind Clovis, saw the abandonment of Paganism and adoption of Catholicism as the countries religion, rode with Charles Martel's army at the battle of Tours. He took up a place in the army of Martel's son, Pepin, and again under Martel's grandson, Charlemagne. Under Charlemagne the country united the once divided domains, expanded, and eventually Charlemagne was crowned Roman Emperor in the West by Pope Leo III. And so down the line of kings, he came and went, farming and fighting as the mood struck him through the years. He held no more or less impact on history than any other fighter or farmer, he simply witnessed a large portion of it.
1000- 1453 AD Capture, the Crusades, 100 years War
His luck ran a bit dry around the beginning of the second century, however. Somehow it was discovered what he was, and more surprisingly, it was discovered how to capture and control him. A dark Wizard captured him with a silver bridle, something he hadn't even thought about in so many centuries! He was kept in the man's stable for several years before his captor devised a way to keep his prize under control without destroying the mind and power held within. Shod in Silver, he was bound to the Wizard who captured him, bound to his word yet allowed enough freedom to keep his sanity and his power. The man used him mercilessly, both for his own gain and selling his loyalty like a mercenary. Pegasus was passed down through the generations, each new master bridling him and applying a fresh set of silver horseshoes to command the great beast.
He fought in the Crusades while in the employ of the Vatican, spending nearly 200 years doing things that he would never have done of his own free will. It was one thing to wage war, another to attempt to annihilate an entire group of people because they held a slightly different idea of an all-powerful being in the sky. He nearly escaped his imprisonment during the black death when his current master fell suddenly ill, but he had left instructions behind, and Pegasus's loyalty once again changed hands. He was tasked to protect various men of influence during the 100 years war, though that was one of his least favorite assignments, it was just so dull! After the war he was passed to a young wizard who had no current use for him and as such he was allowed to reclaim some semblance of a life of his own.
1453-1618 AD Family, Revelation, Freedom
He settled in a small town called Colmar, near the Rhine, on the German border, where he found a beautiful Nightmare by the name of Evelyn Brighton. They settled into the humble life of farmers, a simple thing that Evelyn could do alone should the need arise. Knowing he could be called away at any time to serve his masters wishes, he wanted to be sure his mate was comfortable should she be forced to sustain without him for a time. Their farm quickly grew into an estate, fully capable of running itself, as did their family. Though Pegasus knew that he had sired many offspring, there was something special about fathering children with his own mate, and being included in the upbringing of those offspring. A strapping young Pegasus boy was born to the pair first, followed by what was assumed to be a beautiful Nightmare girl a decade later. But it quickly became apparent in the following years that this was no Nightmare filly, but the first female Pegasus! To his knowledge, he had never produced a female of his kind, nor had any of his offspring. Though neither of them realized it, Evelyn was actually a great great grand daughter of Pegasus, with more than a few of her ancestors having sprung from the great stallion’s seed. Two more female Pegasus would be born from the pair, along with several male Pegasus and a handful of Nightmares. They lived happily, though always with the looming threat of his master casting a shadow over their lives. Until one day, when Pegasus awoke to find that his Silver Shoes had fallen away, his master having died of a sudden heart attack without passing his control on to another!
1618-1815 AD 30 years War, Revolution, the Tyrant
The happy family was finally free to enjoy their lives, without the threat of being ripped away at a moment’s notice. Pegasus, now going by the surname Shaw, had carefully been passing his estate down to his 'decedents' as the passing of time demanded, disappearing for a time before returning with a new Glamour as a son, or nephew. He watched each child grow with pleasure and pride, knowing that there is always the chance that they may not survive to see their first century pass, but giving them every chance he can to get there.
The 30 years war brought a halt to the happy family with the death of Evelyn, cut down by bandits taking advantage of the chaos of war. Shaw slaughtered the men responsible, in the most gruesome of ways, and mourned the death of his mate for many years to come. He would not even take a lover to his bed for nearly two hundred years, so great was his sorrow at the loss. Despite having desired to give up battle after being freed from his master, he turned to the old way for comfort, a respite from his pain and a distraction from his grief. He fought in the 30 years war, and again in the French Revolution when it came. He filled the time between on the estate or traveling to visit his grown children and grandchildren. Despite his many children, his first female Pegasus would always hold a special place in his heart. He kept particularly close to her through the centuries, even when this meant uprooting himself and traveling half way across the globe to be sure of her safety.
Though for a time, she remained safely within France, allowing him the freedom to indulge his bloodthirsty whim and his sorrows to cool. During the Revolution he aligned himself with a young officer of the revolution, having felt a sense of greatness within the man. He traveled beside the man as he rose in power, as he expanded the French empire, even as he fell into distaste among his own people. Shaw finally parted ways with the man when he turned to Britain for asylum. For Shaw had no interest in being a prisioner ever again, even if this time it was a pampered offer.
1820- 1901 China, Boxer Rebellion
Feeling the need for a break from France, Shaw traveled to China. He learned much of the people and the culture, though he never adopted the look of the land. That may have been a smart choice, for when the boxer rebellion swept across the country, he was assumed to have been a captive rather than the guest he had been for nearly eighty years. After the Rebellion had been put down, the allure of the Orient was lost and Shaw returned to France, to his estate and his beloved daughter.
1901-2017 France, North America
Shaw had barely been home a decade before war broke out once again. Fearing for his daughter's safety, with vivid dreams of his mate's death plaguing his dreams, he left the estate under the charge of one of his sons, a fine warrior in his own right, packed up his daughter and set out for the America's. They settled on the east coast for a time, but slowly moved westward as the country became so much more densely populated. Eventually, they separated, as technology allowed them to keep in contact over vast distances. Shaw settled in Montana, for the first time in a long time enjoying his life for the simple pleasures and relaxing.
His peace would only last for so long, though. His daughter disappeared in late 2016, and after several months of trying to convince himself he was just being fussy, he finally set out to find her. Thus, he found himself in Washington, searching for a young woman that meant the world to him, and praying to Zeus that no harm had come to her!
We're going to ask that all mentions of real historical figures be removed. A character taking credit for Alexander the Great makes me uncomfortable.
And while claiming that the Greek pantheon of gods is real and having a character that basically proves it ALSO makes me uncomfortable as hell, I'm willing to consider it largely allegorical and let it stand as-is.
